5 Must-Visit B-School Fests in India


All of us have some really fond memories from our college days. What is a campus life that’s devoid of excitement, adventures and loads of fun and college fests play a major role in making those years in college memorable throughout our lifetime?

If you’re a part of the organizing committee, it gives you the opportunity to be up close with the proceedings and have a greater connection with the festival while being an audience has it’s own perks and gives you the privilege of enjoying the fest and have a good time. It brings out the best in each student as they bang their heads with the music or brainstorm while finalizing the guest list, designing the posters, booking the celebrities, and finding the sponsors.

On that note, I would like to give you a sneak-peak of the best B-School festivals in India, cultural and non-cultural.


1. Unmaad, IIM Bangalore


India’s biggest B-school festival, Unmaad, is the annual cultural fest of IIM Bangalore and is now at its 22nd edition. Conducted over a period of three days, in the last week of January, Unmaad includes events like dramatics, music performances, dances, quizzes, debates, street plays, professional concerts, and fashion show Unmaad has seen various themes in each passing year and this year’s theme is an all-time favourite- “The Box Office Edition”.

It brings a lot of stories in our lives, characters who inspire us or touch our lives in multitudinous ways. Unmade’20 will give you a chance to figure out what character you are or would ever want to be. With a range of events, these festivals assure that there is something for everyone. The event has hosted artists, such as Shankar Ehsaan Loy, KK, Kailash Kher, Lucky Ali, Strings, Jethro Tull, the Indian Ocean, The Local train, Agam, Benny Dayal, and Salim-Sulaiman.


2. Prabandhan, IIT Kanpur, Dept. of Management Studies


Prabhandhan is the Annual Management Conclave of IIT Kanpur, Department of Management Studies. This is a must-visit for all the students/young professionals who have a deep interest in business studies. It is a known fact that IIT Kanpur is renowned for its humongous fests like Antaragni, Techkriti, and Udghosh. Still, among all these classics, there is a relatively new but a fantastic fest that is coordinated by the MBA students of IIT Kanpur. The event focuses on raising the sense of business among us and create a Prabandhan for intellectual minds to recognize the real profundity of their ideas, which can potentially be a successful venture. The objective of the conclave is to provide a common platform for academicians, industrialists, corporate professionals, research scholars, and young management students to share their knowledge and experiences, to update and get updated on current and upcoming trends in the field of business management, and to discuss the problems faced by the 21st-century businesses. The conclave's major attraction is "Reflexions", which is a panel discussion and guest lecture series inviting distinguished speakers from industry and academia.

3. i5 Summit, IIM Indore


i5 Summit 2020 is central India’s largest entrepreneurship summit. It is hosted by IIM Indore in collaboration with IIT Indore, making it the perfect amalgamation of technology and managerial spirits. Indore, being the only Indian city that houses both an IIT and IIM, explores this privilege, and the students of both these prestigious institutions co-ordinate, plan, organize, and participate in this mega event. The summit chronicles the journey of brilliant ideas into tangible business. It opens a plethora of avenues for budding entrepreneurs and provides them with the opportunity, means, and resources to connect directly with potential investors, patronizers, and industry experts and gain insights into the business world, with specially curated events like Chai pe Charcha (The networking event), Panel Discussion (By renowned academicians, authors, and entrepreneurs), and niche workshops (focussing on running everyday start-up operations).

4. Xpressions, XIM-Bhubaneshwar


Located in the state of Odisha, Xpressions has been an inherent part of XIMB’s DNA. It has a legacy of 20 years and has constantly been a success for many years. It has witnessed the performance of stars like Salim-Sulaiman, Farhan Akhtar, Lucky Ali, Vishal-Shekhar, K.K., Arijit Singh, and many others. It is possible only because of the hard work and dedication of XIMBians.

This 72 hours non-stop event is an outcome of over three months of planning and rigorous efforts of all students of XIMB. With over 20 events spread over various domains hosted by different committees, Xpressions caters to assess the interests and expertise of all future managers, by blending their business acumen with creativity. For anyone who is looking to get a blend of both cultural and technical events, this fest is the perfect place to go for an unwinding experience.

5.Synergy, Delhi School of Economics(MBA)


In the first week of February, the Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics hosts ‘Synergy’ – the Annual Management Fest of MBA (IB/HRD), Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics. Combining the excitement of ‘Conflux – Annual Management Fest of MBA(HRD)’ and the zeal of ‘Atharva – Annual Management Fest of MBA(IB)’, it brings about a combination of technical and managerial extravaganza.

The two days of the fiesta was filled with a plethora of events and competitions that encompassed various domains of management education in the fields of International Business, HR, Marketing, Finance, Strategy, and Consulting.

Organizing a college fest is a tedious task and takes months of hard work day and night to pull it off, however, the restless job brings about a lot of happiness and unforgettable moments for a lifetime.
